Eating Habits

Juliet is now a Nilla Wafer cookie monster, a Cheerio hog and a Gerber puff fanatic. As I type I caught her putting a Cheerio in her mouth. She tends to let you think she can't do it. Don't try to hand her a cookie either, you have to put it on her tray and let her pick it up and hold it. I still break up the puffs because she tends to choke on them. I have also started giving her almost anything I have on my plate. She loves bread, pasta, LOVES chocolate pudding and ice cream, wants to drink water only from a big girl cup and let me tell you that is a sight and a mess. My baby is growing up so fast. CONGRATULATIONS to Aunt Jessie and Uncle Derek, they closed on their house today. They have taken step 2 in the life plan. Get Married, Buy a House... We all know what is next... House Warming! What did you think I meant???

Smarter than you think

This morning we were getting ready for school and Juliet had taken a wipe from the container and was playing with it, aka putting it in her mouth. When Jon took it away from her and put it behind his back, she looked at him like I know you have it and I know where it is. She put her hand on his shoulder and pushed him around trying to see behind his back. He would move it from hand to hand and she would keep trying to spin him around. Getting too smart for us!! How are you today?

Refuses to Nap

First though, Juliet got to pet her first horse today. Poppa had Slim in the front yard today, he is a retired show horse and he is very friendly. Trivia: They put show horses under heat lamps to keep their coat from growing. Juliet's cousin Drew is 10 months tomorrow!! He is such the snuggle bunny. Had no problem giving Aunt Lollie kisses and snuggles! Juliet refuses to nap when she is supposed to in the afternoon now. She fights us when she does go down and it makes her a very cranky little girl when we go somewhere. Today we had pictures scheduled at Meme and Poppa's and Juliet did not take her nap. Mama tried for 2 hours to get her to go down, but she wanted to play. She did this yesterday when we were coming back from the zoo. She needs her nap, there is no way around it. She plays hard and needs to recharge, even if only for a short time.

Zoo-asterous

Well, it wasn't that bad, definitely could have been worse, but wasn't the outing Mommy planned. Juliet was in some kind of mood today, think it had to do with not napping very well. We got there and she screamed through the carousel ride. She had no interest in the animals. Loved playing in the gift shop, (Check out flickr), and loved sharing Daddy's ice cream and was ready to go home. Needless to say it was HOT and I am sure that did not help. Since when is 75 hot? O-Well, I had fun and it is fun memories.

I feel a Hissy Fit coming on

And boy is she getting good at them. Juliet no longer gets into her car seat like a good girl. She arches her back and screams because she doesn't want to be facing back and doesn't want to be by herself. It's a fight. Jon also told me this morning that she cries when someone new comes into her classroom. She also didn't want to leave with him to go to the Dr. She wanted to stay with Mrs. Munez, big surprise. No flu shot today, the Dr's office ran out and forgot to call us. SIGH

The joys of child-proofing

Juliet watched her daddy open a cabinet today and that was all it took for her to open the cabinets and try to crawl in. The biggest problem with this is she wanted the cabinet under the sink. Think about what is under your sink and you see the issue with this very quickly. So out came the dreaded cabinet locks, the drill, a screwdriver and little bitty helping hands. (JC if you are confused) We got the sink secure after putting her in her chair and feeding her bits of Nilla Wafers, yummmmy, to keep her distracted. Then it was upstairs for a 1 1/2 hour nap, YAY!!!, in that time daddy fixed all the cabinets except the Tupperware one, she can play with those. She can't reach anything else so we are OK for now as long as we keep the pantry and washroom doors closed. In other news, we got a new dishwasher last week that is so quiet you can carry on a conversation without yelling at each other. Juliet and I are so proud of Dada because he put it in himself.

Giggles

Juliet gets the giggles, it is so precious. She likes to laugh with you, so if you want her to laugh you need to start the laughter! There is something about the stairs that sets her off too. Walking up the stairs she starts bouncing in your arms and laughing. We were laying in bed last night trying to get her to calm down and I started laughing at something, I know not calm, but when I started laughing, she did too. It's not just chuckles, it is belly laughs and they are contagious. I was talking to Mama this morning and she told me that when Aunt Jessie and Uncle Derek were leaving, Stanford was licking Juliet's feet and she was laughing at that. This makes me think she feels better and I am so glad that she feels better. It has been too long since she felt really good!

Tiny Dancer

Today I got to stay home with Juliet one more day because she is sick. We have been watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Handy Manny ALL morning.... I noticed this morning that when Mickey said the words to get the clubhouse to appear she started bouncing up and down like she was dancing along with the song. She started a little early, but realized there was no song and waited until the song started and started bouncing and up and down dancing!!! It was so precious!!! Note! - Fever is gone, she is still really clingy and having some other issues, but she is in really good spirits. Attacking the laptop as we speak. Thank you all for the love you sent her way!! We are so blessed to have family and friends like you!

WHY

So we went from laughing baby yesterday to 102.5 and up fever today. What is going on here? She has been asleep since 5:45, its 9:30, and all she does is cry and go back to sleep. So of course when I call the Dr. he gives me the dreaded F word and I panic! Why does my poor sweet girl have to be sick again?? Send your hugs and kisses and prayers her way.

True Canton Shopper

Juliet is a true Canton girl now. But before that, Juliet now waves bye-bye to people, it is so cute, she does the baby thing of open and closing her fingers toward herself when you say wave bye-bye. She also stands up on her own so much better now. She stood on her own, squatted like she wanted to sit, then stood back up. Her balance has improved soooo much since the surgery! She even acted like she wanted to take a step to daddy last night!!! AND Welcome Home James, Cailin and Conall Oreschnigg!!! This past weekend, Mommy, Mama, Aunt Jessie, Lynne and Juliet Claire went to Canton, TX for First Monday. We drove up and arrived at the bed and breakfast (The Azalea House) around 11pm. Juliet is such a trooper and slept most of the way. In the Suburban we rented, her seat leaned back more. Friday morning we started with breakfast (yum) and were off for a full day of shopping, with Juliet taking 2 long naps in her stroller. Sweet Girl. We had a very successful hunting and gathering trip. We bought a car full. Saturday we went back but only spent 3 hours shopping, but still managed to find goodies! We got home around 5 and had to separate goodies! Juliet and I got home around 8 and we were both exhausted. Sunday we had lunch with the Oreschnigg family. They are home now, and we are excited. They will go this week to look for a house and school for the kids. We are so glad they are home!

Welcome home Oreschniggs

Welcome home James, Cailin and Conall!! We are so glad you are home safe and sound. We love you!!

Successful Ear Surgery

Juliet's surgery went well, they took her around 9:23am and the entire procedure took 15 minutes. We were leaving the surgical center at 10am. She has been very cranky and clingy this afternoon, but all things we were warned about. Don't let me fool you, the whole waking a baby from local anesthesia is NOT a joy. She had her eyes closed screaming for a while. She woke up screaming at 4 this morning and we couldn't figure out what was going on. Come to find out when he got in there she had another double (bi-lateral) ear infection - SIGH. He cleaned out all the yucky stuff and she should heal nicely. We thank everyone who thought about us this morning.
