Learning more and more

First of all, pray for Aunt Jessie, she is in Greece on a mission trip.  She will be back this Saturday.
Juliet turned 21 months last week!
Jon starts his new position on October 1, pray that it goes well!

Make sure you are keeping up with Flickr, it tells more of a story than I can!!

Everything lately seems to be no with the occasional yes thrown in.  No matter what you ask her or ask her to do most of the time she will say no.  If you catch her in the right mood she will still do her animal sounds but we get a no on those too.  She has all together quit trying to say her name.  Also make sure you have a dishcloth or a napkin handy or she will use your clothing to wipe her hands.  She ate peaches yesterday and before I could wipe her hands she had already wiped them on my shirt.
When we go to bed we have to turn off the light, she goes to it and points and says light.  We also have to have our special socks on, so when I put them on she holds her feet up for me.
Last week she didn't get to go outside in the afternoon so I took her by the slides  in the neighborhood, she climbs the stairs by herself and throws herself down the slide.  We are trying to get her to sit and scoot to the slide.  Still working on that though.
Saturday morning was use mommy as a jungle gym!  It's been a long time since she did that, she prefers daddy so I felt special.
Yesterday after nap she buckled herself in the car seat in the kitchen.  After a few minutes she started saying Help.  When I walked in there she looked at me and said, I stuck.  I almost fell on the floor laughing. She spent the rest of the afternoon pushing a shopping cart full of bouncy balls around.  She found a little light up Christmas tree and when I turned it on for her she started trying to blow it out like a candle.  Tried to get it on video, but she would not cooperate!  I also tried to get her to put on a pair of her Minnie Mouse panties over her diaper, she screamed and clawed at them trying to get them off.  Seems she may not be ready to potty train.
At dinner she found baked cheetos, and ate almost an entire snack bag of them.  Of course she was covered in the stuff they leave behind so it was an early bath time!

So there is a PS to this, apparently she says her name over and over when she is at Mama and Papa's!  They were looking at pictures and she was naming everyone, including herself!  Stinker Butt!

Whirlwind Weekend

We survived the trip to Dallas and had a wonderful time seeing family.
Juliet got bitten again by another bug and her little left hand was all swollen.  Gotta make sure we keep Benedryl on hand.

Friday night Jon and I attended the Grand Taiko Festival at Miller Outdoor Theater.  We did not think Juliet would enjoy this experience as one it was outside in the grass, two it was loud and three, it started right around her bedtime.  She gladly went to Mama and Papa's for the night.  It was a wonderful experience and a nice night out with friends, who by the way did bring their kids.
Saturday we were planning on going to Dallas to see Jon's family so we had to pick up Juliet at 7:30 in Crosby and switch cars with Mama.  We borrowed the Expedition so we could have more room.  (Best decision we could have made!)  We got on the road and stopped for chicken (Chick-Fil-A) and were off!  Note she has been up since 6:40 now.  We stopped in Madisonville, who doesn't, at Buckees for a leg stretch and diaper change...  Well entire outfit change, and Daddy bought her Dippin Dots which she would not eat.  Strange child.  Back on the road.  Around 11 she decided she wanted a nap and only slept 45 minutes waking up about the time we hit Lewisville.  We made it to Jon's grandparent's house and played with the grandparents and great-grandparents all day.  Around 7:30p we headed to the Chanslor's, Uncle Craig's parents, where we were staying the night.  Juliet fell asleep, for 15 minutes, and woke up when we got there.  We played some more until around 9:45p when she just couldn't do it anymore.  We put her in bed and she was out by 10 and slept until about 7:15 Sunday morning.
Sunday we went to church and had lunch, then we were off again.  We headed to Frisco to see Jon's dad and his family and watch the Cowboys loose.  Hey, the TEXANS WON!, that's 2 weeks in a row if you are counting and you should be!  Juliet loves playing with all the toys and Madison would play with her so she was happy.  We left around 3:30p for home and got home around 8.  We finally got her bath and she was in bed by 8:30 and slept all night!
It was a great weekend.

Bite

On Tuesday afternoon Juliet was bitten near her her eye and on her neck.  I was called to the school on Wednesday to put medicine on the bite on her neck and that is when I noticed that the one on her face was swelling just a little.  I gave her Benedryl and headed out to the Astros game for my safety recognition event at Minute Maid.  Around the 7th inning stretch I got another call from the school that the bite on her eye was swelling and I should probably come look at it.  (Remember I am downtown at the ball park and it takes me a while to get there, and I am expecting the worse when I get there.)  Yes her eye was swollen and so was her nose so I put in a call to the pediatrician.  He told me to give her a steroid, which I had and more Benedryl and to bring her in Thursday morning.
I took her in and expected her to fight me on everything.  We were taken to room 2, our favorite because of the ride toy and the mailbox to play with.  When it was time to weigh her, she pushed the ride toy to the scale, gave me her hand for help getting on the scale and stood there until it was time to get down them pushed her toy back to the room.  (No picture, I forgot the camera in the room.)  When Dr. Goldberg, Senior, came in she talked to him and smiled at him, which is a big change from just staring at Dr. Ori.  He gave us 3 epi pens, more steroid and an antibiotic.  The epi pens are a just in case something really bad happens.
Of course she got bitten on her hand Friday and it was so swollen, but didn't seem to bother her.  Hoping that lasts because I don't want her scratching!  Gonna talk to the school next week!

Cleaning solution that may come in handy

SOLUTION from another friend's blog that she swears will disinfect and get rid of the smell of anything that comes from your kids!  I haven't tried it yet, but will keep it in reserve!

From Kim Garnett who is the mom of twins...
A newly learned solution of 1/3 water, 1/3 rubbing alcohol and 1/3 white vinegar is a LIFESAVER in the process of removing smell from car seat straps that don't detach from the car seat. I used to think Lysol Kitchen cleaner did the job but no. This is amazing, and I call it Wanehol (WAter, viNEgar, alcoHOL).

Our big girl!

Our little girl is growing up so fast!

She knows that when the red light on the humidifier is on it needs more water.  She will take the head off the elephant and bring it to daddy.  She will hold on to the stopper and when he is done she will put it exactly where it is supposed to go and help him screw it on.  When she is ready for you to get up she will pull on your hand and she will say up.  When you do get up she gives you a winning smile and says up!  (She wants to be picked up!)  She also knows that a q-tip goes in your ear and knows where they are kept, bye bye q-tips :-) !  Our little smarty pants!  She and daddy are working on learning that cars go Beep Beep.
We have a Winnie the Pooh book that has lots of things on pages to find.  I can ask her where is something and she will point it out and most of the time say what it is.  She has even learned what a kangaroo is.
When we got home Friday after school she ran directly to the bathroom and said "Go Potty", of course she had already gone in her diaper so she just sat there smiling.
We took her to slide in the park on Saturday morning.  We were there 45 mins and it was time to go home.  She screamed half of the way home something that sounded like "I didn't get to slide," of course I have video and photo proof that she did.

Will keep you updated!

Terrible 2's (a little early)

Juliet has hit the terrible 2's full force!  If she doesn't want to say or do something she will say no and shake her head.  Also if she doesn't want to say something she also says no.  She is in that stage where she knows she wants something but doesn't know how to tell us what she wants.  That is what the terrible 2's are, knowing what she wants and not knowing how to get it and not tell us what exactly it is.

We took her to the little park area in the neighborhood on Monday to play.  There are slides there and she so loves to slide.  We saw some black clouds in the distance but thought we had time before the storm hit, but... she only got to slide 3-4 times before the storm was on top of us.  We had to hurry home, she did get chicken out of it.  I think I understand terrible twos, it's more of she knows what she wants and doesn't know how to wait for it.

We are working with her on how a train goes, she says choo choo and a turkey goes gobble!  I told her the waffle was cold burr and she shivers and says burr.  She is very impatient and does not like to wait for them to cook.  She puts her own shoes on, even if those shoes are on the wrong feet!

Jujet

Say Juliet... Jujet!  It is really sweet because she is trying so hard.  She would say Jujet over and over and was so proud of herself, and mommy was proud of her too!
Then I lost her attention to her bible and that was the end of our trying to say our name.
