Happy 2nd Birthday Juliet Claire

Happy Birthday my beautiful girl.  Today you are 2 years old!  You are my most precious gift.
What a beautiful and smart little girl you are!  Mommy and Daddy love you very much!  We have had such a fun year.  You are such a good sport and will do just about anything as long as you know we are there with you!

I decided this year I was going to list things that I love about you and things you do that make me smile, so here we go.

I love your super duper hugs, the ones where you hang on so tight we really don't even have to hold you.
I love your laughs, you have the best laugh, it is so contagious.
I love it when you crawl in my lap and just sit there quietly and watch TV, or when you climb up while I am getting dressed and play with my makeup and brushes.  It tickles me when you get one with color on it and you have it all over your face!
Even when I want to sleep a little longer, I love when you wake up early and want to snuggle with me before school.
I love it that kisses make you giggle and laugh.
I love how you and daddy play together.  You are such a funny pair when you are alone together or you think mommy isn't watching or can't hear you!
I love it when you look up when you hear my voice at school and you smile and yell Mommy, Mommy and run toward me.  It makes up for the bad drop-offs some mornings.  I like it when you are happy to see your teachers and friends.
I love it when you ask for a drink it's not water or juice or just drink, it's water juice, and you are such a cheese monster its not even funny.
I find it funny that you will eat cake now, but want the icing taken off and don't want to touch it at all.
I find it so hilarious that TV is Mimmie Daisy and you say it louder and louder like we can't hear what you are saying.  It is the only thing you want to watch.  We have to force you to watch other things.
I love bed time routine that ends with us hugging and me giving you a kiss, you lay down, then all the sudden decide it is time for another hug and kiss and you scramble to get up before I leave the room and say Mommy, Kiss.
I love it that when you sleep you cover up your Ribbit and Baby Bear and sleep on top of them, totally ignoring the pillow that I ordered for you.
I love when you sort everything by color then get mad when we mess it up by putting things up.
I find you silly with this potty training business, you like to sit on the potty and smile at us and do nothing.
I find it amusing that you are a professional at looking away when someone is trying to take your picture, but your daddy can make you smile!

The list could go on and on, but finally my little parrot, I love you through and through, from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.  I love you my doodlebug!  Happy Birthday!

Love, Mommy

Juliet has croup

What is that you ask?

Croup (or laryngotracheobronchitis) is a respiratory condition that is usually triggered by an acute viral infection of the upper airway. The infection leads to swelling inside the throat, which interferes with normal breathing and produces the classical symptoms of a "barking" cough, stridor, and hoarseness.
The "barking" cough is often described as resembling the call of a seal or sea lion. The stridor is worsened by agitation or crying, and if it can be heard at rest, it may indicate critical narrowing of the airways.

OK, now that I have scared you. let me reassure you that she is fine.  She woke up around 11:30p last night trying to cry and talk but she was hoarse.  She seemed to be having trouble getting air but her color was fine.  We called the Dr. and he told us to steam up the bathroom and give her a breathing treatment.  When that did not work we ended up taking her to Texas Children's in the Medical Center.  There was no wait to get in the ER and we were in a room in no time.  Her blood / oxygen level never fell below 98% except when she would stand on the monitor!  So that was wonderful.  They gave her a steroid (dexamethasone) and that seemed to calm the symptoms.  We were there about 2 hours and then they said we could go home because she looked really good.

We got home around 3:30a and my alarm went off at 5:45a, I so did not want to get up!  Juliet is at home with daddy and she got up around 7:30, we were hoping she would sleep in but no such luck.

We ask you to pray for her speedy recovery!

Happy 2nd Birthday Party, Playset and Santa Claus

 Happy Birthday Mama (13th)

We had Juliet's 2nd birthday party on Saturday the 11th and we had a fun time!  She got so much fun stuff that Santa is going to be hard pressed to find her something for him to bring her.  We had a Minnie Mouse theme with cake and cookies and only one issue with sharing her toys.  She got a table and chairs, a tea set and dishes, a baby doll and a bed for the baby, some fun books, a bike, some fun bath toys that are musical instruments and so much more!  She also got a Mickey Mouse band set and there was family band time in the living room!  She smiled and tried to put her hands in the cake when it was time to sing, unlike last year where she screamed.  She couldn't decide if she wanted to blow out the candle so mommy helped and we had cake, no icing please and ice cream!  Mama and Papa, Meme and Papa, Granny, Aunt Jessie, Aunt Angie and Drew, Uncle James, Aunt Brandy, Cailin and Conall, Aunt Kimberly and Victoria, and Landon and his parents helped her celebrate turning 2!
 Loved her balloon bouquet
 Happy Birthday to you Princess
 See my outfit Minnie?
 Family band time
 Baby doll needs a drink
It's been a really fun day, time for bed!

On Tuesday night we took her to see Santa.  We were laughing and dancing in line saying Santa Santa Ho Ho Ho and she seemed ready to see him.  I put her in his lap and her lip trembled and I thought o-no here we go.  Fortunately daddy was there to make her laugh and we got an awesome picture!  What a great daddy we have!!
On Monday her Christmas present from Mama and Papa and Granma and Grandaddy arrived!  It is a playset with swings, a fort, and a slide!  She loves it!!  We have played with it everyday after school.  Today it was after a wagon ride around the cul-de-sac.  She has been after us to ride in the wagon, it was so windy though!
 WOW, do you see that?
 Ready, Set, GO!
 I can climb by myself
 Looking for airmanes
Loves to swing

Our newest saying is Ready, Set, Go!  Whether up the stairs or down the slide she loves to say it.  We have been up through the night for the last couple of nights.  She is getting a tooth in, I can feel it but it is not in all the way.  Teething is really hard on her, I feel so bad because I can't do much to help.

Sorry for the long post, but it's been a fun week.  Hope everyone is doing well and we will see everyone soon!

Prissy

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

Saturday night we spent the night with Mama and Papa and were getting ready for bath and I had Juliet on the potty like we do every night.  I don't know who was more surprised, me or her when she went potty in the big potty!

We had her birthday pictures done with Lasting Memories Photography in Liberty Sunday morning, here is a sneaky peak!  I can't wait to see them all!  She was such a pistol, made us work for any smile we got!
In the picture above we were doing the hokey pokey to get her to smile, she was putting her right foot in with us!  She will also turn around when you say to!!
We went Sunday afternoon to see Meme and Poppa and play with them and the inflatables in Meme's front yard!  She has a giant Mickey and Minnie and tree with Tigger and a huge Train.
We spent most of last week doing breathing treatments and let me tell you that was a ton of fun, NOT!  It was every 4 hours for 2 days, every 6 hours for 2 days and every 8 hours for 1 day.  24 treatments in total and Juliet was such a trooper.  She only fought me the last day when she was tired of having to do them.  She would want to get in bed with me and sleep after the early morning one would wake her up.  Do you know how hard it is to get out of bed when your sweet baby girl wants to cuddle with you?

I got her a pink tree for her room!  It screams girly and she seems to really like it, it is just her size.  She has a light pink pettiskirt that I used as the tree skirt!  She is such a nut!

Juliet will hee haw, clap and la la to Dominic the Italian Christmas Donkey.  (Song on the radio!)

Tis the Season!!!

Happy Birthday Aunt Jessie!!

I have a horrible nasty cold that is making me hard to live with so bear with me!

I absolutely love Christmas, my tree has been up over a week.  It now houses Juliet's birthday presents, because frankly, in this house it is a Christmas tree and a Birthday tree.  I will make her ornaments soon for this year.  Our Christmas cards will be here sometime today and this is perfect as it will meet my December 1 deadline to get them in the mail.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Next Sunday we are having her 2 year portraits done in Liberty.  I am still on a mad hunt for the perfect little dress, I have found it, just need to find her size ASAP!!!
We celebrated Thanksgiving in Liberty with the family this year.  It was awesome!  Great food and great company.  We ate at moms and then after Juliet's nap we went out to dads.  It was so good to see everyone.  Yes, pictures are up on Flickr so hop on over and check them out.
Jon and I went shopping on Friday and knocked out a huge chunk of our Christmas lists and didn't have any trouble finding things even though we didn't start till around 10am.  We found a blowup Santa for the front yard, when we pull in the driveway and he isn't inflated we hear uh-uo Danta!  She also wants to go give him a high five before we go in.  It's a huge step from not wanting to go near him at all!!  It's really cute.

My child has my love of Christmas and apparently my obsession with snowmen.  Meme got her another light up snowman who is smaller that she can carry around, which yes she does walk around with both of them now.  She calls them ninnys, ask me why I do not know.
It was so cold here on Friday that we didn't get to go outside because she has already been sick, so she brings me her gloves and we put them on, of course then she thinks we can go outside because she is warm.
Saturday I don't thinks Juliet or I got out of our pajamas, we had a lazy Saturday which I know I needed very bad.  She has started walking like a dinosaur if you ask her how a dino walks, see it on Flickr!
Today, well yesterday since it is 1am and I can not sleep, we got up and went to church then ate at Five Guys burgers.  I saw a woman there who looked so familiar I had to go speak to her.  We could not place why we looked so familiar to each other, but I guess that happens.  I did get the opportunity to ask her and her husband to join us at church as they have not attended a church since moving to this area.  I did forget to get her name though.  We took a long nap when we got home and went out to the mall looking for JC's dress.  On the way home she told us "Love you Mommy and Love you Daddy."  My heart melted and I almost cried.

I am going to end this post with a few of the things I am thankful for:
1 - A God who loves me and my family so much that he would send HIS SON to die for my salvation.
2 - A wonderful, loving, supportive husband and a beautiful and smart little girl.
3 - My family who supports me fully.
4 - My friends, those close to me now and those I only see on the internet.  May you and your family be blessed.
5 - My job in this unstable economy.

The list goes on and on, but I will stop there.
Love to all, I am going to try to sleep!!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!  (and YES, my tree has been up since last Saturday!!)
Juliet is now 23 months old, 1 more month and she will be 2, where o where has the time gone?  Her party is on Dec. 11th, don't forget!!

Last night we did Feed the 5th with the church.  Juliet and I were on the welcome committee and Jon was on the prayer committee.  It was our first ministry as a family and I think it was a wonderful experience.

Juliet has learned to count to 10, she can say the numbers and use her fingers to count.  Sunday we were watching football and there was a fumble and Jon was counting how many people missed the ball.  He said one, two and she said three, he said four she said five, six, he prompted seven and she said eight, nine, TEN!  She likes 10!  We were so proud of her!!  Her teachers were shocked too, they sing 1 little, 2 little, 3 little Indians and apparently she is picking up counting!!

Saturday we had an awesome baby shower for Mrs. Jessica and baby John.  She got a ton of fun things for the baby!!  It was so much fun and Juliet and Victoria were dolls.  Juliet ate whatever Victoria ate so we are going to start renting a kid for dinner time so the kid will eat.  (JOKE)  She even ate a whole piece of cake, minus the icing.  I will give her credit, she did try the icing, then spit it back at Mama.

We had to go to the dr again because of an icky nose and she is breathing heavy.  He ended up giving her a breathing treatment, I have never been so glad for my iPhone, You Tube and MMCH.  She watched MMCH on my phone while getting her treatment and never once complained.  I could tell after that she seemed to feel better.  So I think it worked.

I turned on the tree when we got home because she stood staring at it going Christmas lights... very sternly at me.  When I turned it on she said, WOW Christmas tree!!!  She also found the light up snowman that Meme got her last year and it seems to travel with us.  Upstairs then down, in the car and out.  She also knows how to turn it off and on so we don't have to do it every time she wants it one way or the other.

Oh, and Juliet has started wearing big girl panties with her diaper, school is working hard with her on potty training, but she still just wants to sit on the potty.  That is ok, we don't want to force her and have a major set back.

Well, I must be going, hoping for an early release from work so I can get some things done.  But for now, I will watch the cops outside my window arrest people and the tow trucks haul off their car, I just don't have motivation to do much!! HAHA

Love to all,
Laura

What a helper!`

Most Important:  Thursday at school, Juliet went tee-tee in the potty.  She has been very interested in the potty for a while but never did anything.  Wednesday they put her on it and she just giggled, but Thursday when they put her on, she got a strange look on her face and when they checked she had gone!!  We are so proud of her!!  We knew she would do this in her own time.  (She hasn't done anything since that, but still wants to sit on the potty!)  When I put her to bed I said let's tell Jesus nite-nite, thinking let's say our prayers, well she said nite-nite Jesus.
We took Juliet to the church on Saturday to help set up for "Big Church" while the sanctuary is still being remodeled.  She was such the helper putting the bibles on the chairs, she would take them off the cart then putting them on the chair.  She thought every chair needed one though.  She also had to test out the new child check-in area.   I painted her toes Saturday morning before we left, she sat there and watched me paint them and then let them dry.  I think she liked being like mommy with her toes painted.
She has started laying on her stomach in the bath tub, she will talk toward the side of the tub because it echos when she talks.  When someone sneezes she says bless you.  I have a bruise on my leg and she said "momma hurt" and kissed my leg. She has now become a sticker freak, she loves having them all over her legs and arms.  She is in the kitchen now trying to help daddy empty the dishwasher, she wants to carry the glasses...
Every time I try to get on the computer, she climbs in my lap and stays there so I have to do updates when she is distracted.

More Later,
Laura

Two weeks in one

Can you believe we are into November, AGAIN!  There are 2 weeks of updates packed into this post, I forgot to post last week.

Juliet walks up the stairs now instead of crawling up them.  She either holds our hand or puts her hand on the wall to steady herself.  If she has something in her hands she expects you to steady her as she walks up not holding on to anything.  She has also started walking and running backwards.  Everything is 2 words together now.  big airmane, yellow bus, baby elephant, etc.  If you ask her what color something is the default is yellow, I have no clue why but she likes saying yellow.  We correct her and she will say the color we tell her.  She also started taking the balls out of the ball pit by color and then puts them back in one color at the time.  Mommy or Daddy have to kiss every hurt, and believe me there are alot of hurts lately.
We have learned that Juliet says no when she is happy with her current situation.  If she wants to do something she will repeat what you say.  Juliet do you want to take a nap?, no nap.  Juliet do you want to go downstairs?, downstairs.
We took JC and did the blitz for the Fall Festival at the church, she enjoyed going up to the doors, putting the flyers on the door and she even started knocking before we were done.
Daddy and Juliet spent the Halloween weekend together while Mommy, Mama and Aunt Jessie went to Canton.  They had a good time together!  He even went to school Friday to watch the costume parade!
We took Juliet to the fall festival at the church on Halloween.  I was so glad that it was still daylight when it started.  She did everything except the hay ride, and with her allergies, I am glad she didn't want to do that.  There was a petting zoo and bouncy houses that she enjoyed alot!  What surprised me the most is she got her face painted.  She sat there really still while they drew a Mickey Mouse on her face.  I was in shock for the rest of the night.  Make sure you check out flickr for the pictures.
Tuesday it was raining and she told me wawa wet, so I told her it's rain, wain wet. Smart girl!  It was raining Wednesday too and she immediately told me wawa wet.  We also took Juliet to vote with us, it is never too early to start teaching them the importance of things.
On Friday coming home from school, I said Juliet, Love You and she said LOVE YOU!  It was awesome, I have been waiting so long to hear that!!
Saturday was a very busy day, we with Mama started out meeting Mrs. Jessica and her mom, Kimberly and Victoria at the Tea Room where we are having Jessica's baby shower.  The food was wonderful and the company was fun.  It was so fun to have a girls lunch!!  Then we headed to Daniel's birthday party at Gymboree in Willowbrook.  She played hard and had a good time climbing and crawling.  Daniel's mom put stickers in the goody bag and I thought she was going to freak out over them, but no, she loved them, put them all over her arms and legs.  Then she got one from the parking crew at church today!  Everyday it's something new or different.  We were supposed to go to a party with the church group, but we were so exhausted we missed it.
We did pictures with Jeni Hendricks Photography today in the Eagle Springs subdivision.  She was a sweet lady who Juliet bonded with very well, I hope the pictures turn out great and that I have found a local photographer!  (Thanks to Cathy Theiss for recommending her.)  If you know someone who will give their time to dress as Santa for a charity event, she needs a volunteer or volunteers.  I can get you in touch with her.
It promises to be another full week!

Fair

I took Juliet to the TVE fair last Saturday. She was so cute and we had alot of fun.

Saturday morning Juliet and I met Mama at her house so we could go out to the fairgrounds, but first Juliet had to go check on Nanny's house.  We got the added bonus of Aunt Jessie still being there so she went too.  I had bought Juliet little pink boots for the occasion.
We started out looking at some of the animals, but I think it was still a little too much for Juliet to take in so we headed in to the arena.  We stopped by the sponsor board to take a picture with JC's name on it.  She didn't seem all that interested.
We went into the arena where Meme, Poppa and Aunt Angie were working the breeding beef show.  If you have ever been in that arena, the sound goes to the top of the roof then bounces back down.  She was a little scared at first, but we played in the box seat areas and she was fine.  I think every kid who grew up win Liberty County has played on those white bars.  I turned around and she was standing on the fence.  She had climbed up on her own.  I took her down to see her Poppa and I think she realized what the cows were.  She kept saying MOOOO, and I would tell her baby and she would say Baby Moooo, she seemed to like it.

We got back to the other end just in time to need a diaper change, of course, in a place with no place to change diapers, we went out to the car.  I put her tennies on so she could walk around better.  We got back just in time to see Uncle Andrew and Drew.
The kids played for a bit and then started to get restless.  We took them to the petting zoo where there were goats, a deer, a rabbit, chickens, a pig, ducks and a kangaroo.  Which doesn't belong?  There was no fear by either kid around the animals, just ran up to them and started petting.  The little pig did not want to play, so the kids cornered it between two water buckets so they could pet it.  (Reminded me of two other cousins, whose names start with a L&J who probably did the same thing)
Then it was off to ride the rides, with a small stop to wash mud off Juliet because she fell in the only mud puddle in the place.  We started out with the train and Juliet freaked and Drew loved it.  They had to stop the ride to let her off, even the little boy in front of her had turned around to try to comfort her.  I think it was because she was sitting backwards and didn't like that.   Then it was on to the carousel and then the big slide, then she had to drive the cars.  Then she surprised me because she ran to the tea cups.  OK here we go I thought, we won't be on this very long.  She loved it until they started the ride next to us and that scared her.

The kids were exhausted after that so we were done, imagine this scene, four adults standing around two screaming toddlers who were both walking in circles.  We headed home for a 2 hour nap!  What a wonderful time we had.

Repeat what you heard

This past week started out a little hairy when the school called on Sunday and said they would not be open on Monday because someone had broken in and set fire to one of the classrooms, again.  This is the 2nd time in a year this has happened to this particular school.  So I talked to my boss and it turned into an unexpected play day for Mommy and Juliet.  We slept in, had a waffle, watched Handy Manny and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, went to the slides had lunch and screamed like I beat her when it was time for her nap.  I have no idea, she doesn’t seem to want to take her naps, but believe me, she needs them.  After her nap she found the party hats that were left over from her birthday last year, and started stacking them by color.  No help from either Jon or me, she just decided to do it on her own.

Tuesday morning she fought me on everything, getting up and dressed, getting out the door, going to class, me leaving, EVERYTHING.  I got to the school to pick her up and they told me she scraped her knee on the playground.  She is a kid I understand these things happen and I also know they have to tell me every little thing.  So I asked her about it.  Juliet do you have a boo boo on your knee?  She would tell me boo boo .. knee, it was pretty precious!  She also wants you to kiss her hurts when she gets them.  Even if they are tiny hurts, they all need kisses.

Thursday I get to the school and they tell me, we were running behind today and she is still in her new class, you will drop her off there tomorrow and we will just start her transition.  Well Friday morning did not go well, she screamed, clawed, cried, stomped… everything she could do to make me know she was not happy.  All week she had just loved being in there and now she does this.  My child hates change.  Friday night she went to Mama and Papa’s house so she could go to the baby parade Saturday morning with them.  I should have entered her in it this year, but I forgot.  Maybe next year, she loved it and wanted to walk with all the other kids.  She was really sick Friday night with tummy troubles and I learned this morning that a lot of kids in the toddler class were sick last week.  Saturday we went across the street for our neighbors 6th birthday, they had a bouncy house I thought she would play in, NOT, wouldn’t even go close.  She liked the bikes and the rubber band bracelets.  (You know, the ones that are shapes when they are off and stretch into bracelets.)

She has learned moon and points to it when she sees it.  They also read Good Night Moon in school so she will say Nite Moon.  She is also little miss repeat, so watch what you say.  I said Okay, let’s go downstairs, she said Otay, go downstairs.

We had to get a new vacuum yesterday and she seems to hate the sound.  I think we are going to have to tell her it will be loud but it will be over soon.  Maybe if we warn her she will not be so scared.  She did throw a fit when she saw the bracelets for sale at Bed Bath and Beyond and she couldn’t have more.  She had 8 on her arms.

I got her birthday t-shirt in and I am so in love!  I can’t wait to get to post pictures of her in it.  I also ordered her cake for her party!  Minnie Mouse all the way!

A little of this and that!

So it's not just I can't hug Jon, we can't hug at all!  She will yell NO and try to move us apart.  We like it because we get to hug and gives us a little entertainment!
Her school pictures came in!

Monday we went to the Dr.  She wasn't getting any better and looked to be getting a sinus infection.  We got medicine and then he suggested that she get her flu shot.  She was fine until they put the band-aid on.  Lucky for us she had on long sleeves and promptly forgot it.  The whole way home in the HOV lane she said Bye Bus to the Metro in front of us.  At bath time though, she saw the band-aid on her arm. Her reaction: what is THAT, who put THAT there?  Get it OFF!  I think the shot made her hurt because she didn't sleep very well, which meant I didn't sleep very well!!  Made for a LONG Tuesday!

We got official notice that Juliet will be moving to a new class the week of the 17th.  She will be in the Early Preschool 1 class. Mrs. Turner will be her new teacher and two of her little friends will go with her so she will know people.  She likes Mrs. Turner so I hope things go well!  I am NOT ready, I want her to stay my baby, I know... I know... She will always be my baby.

Saturday Juliet went to Liberty to play with Mama and Papa, Jon went to the game store and I went to Galveston to take pictures.  It was an awesome day.  Georgeous weather and the water was warmer than I expected for an October afternoon.  There were people everywhere.  Saturday evening Jon and I went to Cheesecake Factory for date night, it was awesome!  I have been sick (allergies) all week and haven't had a voice for 2 days.
We learned how to turn our nightlight on and off.  I only had to show her once that she had to flip the switch to the left to make it turn on.  So we have our nightly ritual.  Bath, then play ribbit with daddy, lotion then play with the farm and read a book.  Then we turn on our nightlight and our elephant humidifier, then we turn off the big light and say our prayers and kiss mommy and daddy.  Then I say Momma until I realize she isn't coming back to get me and sleep.
I took her picture in the candy holder.  I messed up because she wanted to stay in there.  She threw her favorite kind of fit, the run in place and scream.  It is so funny when she has on her squeaker shoes on.
Sunday during her nap she took off her diaper. I went in to naked baby butt and a soaked bed.  Needless to say I wasn't very happy about finding that one.  We received a call about the same time to tell us there was a fire at her school and they would not be open on Monday.
Hope you enjoyed your Halloween Card!

It's all part of growing up

Welcome home Aunt Jessie!

Our little princess is coming into her own... who am I kidding, she has been like this for a while.  If she is really into telling you no no she will do the sign for no.  If I try to hug Jon she will come up and try to push me away and say My Dada.  Well hello daddy's little girl!

When we are putting her lotion on she thinks she needs to put it on her knees, elbows and feet, instead of just on her belly.  She said elbow (9/28) when we were putting on lotion and when I put her pants on last Wednesday (9/29) she said knee as she pulled up her pants to point at them.
Wednesday night daddy tried to be tricky to turn MMCH off.  Well he got Juliet to say Iron Man then he said say 2 so she said Iron Man Two!  Well about half way thru the previews she says Mimmie.  Can't pull anything over on this one.  Thursday morning, thanks dada for teaching Juliet teetee and butt and teaching her to point them out!  Friday night we went to Rudy's for BBQ, she crawled up in a chair (on her own) and ate her Chick-Fil-A nuggets.

Saturday morning we went to see Meme and Poppa, my dad and Lynn.  We haven't seen them in a while so it was nice to get to visit.  Juliet found a rocking chair and found it wildly entertaining to throw the ball at me from it.  It was good to see everyone and I got to see Drew.  Wow is he growing fast and the two of them together was cute.  They always wanted the same thing at the same time, it was truly funny to watch them disagree that the MMCH train needed to be on the track and the tracks had to stay connected.  Juliet loves little dogs so she and Crash got along well.  Here she is sharing her bears with him. I didn't get alot of pictures because we were too busy visiting.
After we left, we went to play in the pumpkin patch at Wal-Mart with Mama.  I will post one, the rest are on Flickr.  She was so cute and re-arranged the patch until we made her leave.  The lady who was working there just let us play.  We did come home with 2 small pumpkins.
Sunday we went to church, this 1 hour of Sunday school is working out so much better than her being there for 2 hours.  ALTHOUGH, I she had a stage 5 screaming fit on the way to the car because she wanted to walk and carry her diaper bag (which if you didn't know makes into a backpack, very cool), fine, but she did not want to hold one of our hands, not fine.  So daddy picked her up and already being very sleepy, she melted and the world ended.   We ate dinner at Pappasito's Sunday night and she did it again, did not want to hold my hand.  Well this time I swatted her on her diaper (and you know she felt nothing), she gave me that hand real quick.  Of course I got busted by another customer who told me "Good job, we need more parents like you".   There are things she will get away with and things she will not, this is a will not.

Last thought of this one... It's OCTOBER baby, bring on the Halloween outfits as many times as I can get them washed!! (We are being blessed with BEAUTIFUL weather here in Houston, so we can wear all of our cute things!!)
Love to all, the rest I have will be in the next installment!

Learning more and more

First of all, pray for Aunt Jessie, she is in Greece on a mission trip.  She will be back this Saturday.
Juliet turned 21 months last week!
Jon starts his new position on October 1, pray that it goes well!

Make sure you are keeping up with Flickr, it tells more of a story than I can!!

Everything lately seems to be no with the occasional yes thrown in.  No matter what you ask her or ask her to do most of the time she will say no.  If you catch her in the right mood she will still do her animal sounds but we get a no on those too.  She has all together quit trying to say her name.  Also make sure you have a dishcloth or a napkin handy or she will use your clothing to wipe her hands.  She ate peaches yesterday and before I could wipe her hands she had already wiped them on my shirt.
When we go to bed we have to turn off the light, she goes to it and points and says light.  We also have to have our special socks on, so when I put them on she holds her feet up for me.
Last week she didn't get to go outside in the afternoon so I took her by the slides  in the neighborhood, she climbs the stairs by herself and throws herself down the slide.  We are trying to get her to sit and scoot to the slide.  Still working on that though.
Saturday morning was use mommy as a jungle gym!  It's been a long time since she did that, she prefers daddy so I felt special.
Yesterday after nap she buckled herself in the car seat in the kitchen.  After a few minutes she started saying Help.  When I walked in there she looked at me and said, I stuck.  I almost fell on the floor laughing. She spent the rest of the afternoon pushing a shopping cart full of bouncy balls around.  She found a little light up Christmas tree and when I turned it on for her she started trying to blow it out like a candle.  Tried to get it on video, but she would not cooperate!  I also tried to get her to put on a pair of her Minnie Mouse panties over her diaper, she screamed and clawed at them trying to get them off.  Seems she may not be ready to potty train.
At dinner she found baked cheetos, and ate almost an entire snack bag of them.  Of course she was covered in the stuff they leave behind so it was an early bath time!

So there is a PS to this, apparently she says her name over and over when she is at Mama and Papa's!  They were looking at pictures and she was naming everyone, including herself!  Stinker Butt!

Whirlwind Weekend

We survived the trip to Dallas and had a wonderful time seeing family.
Juliet got bitten again by another bug and her little left hand was all swollen.  Gotta make sure we keep Benedryl on hand.

Friday night Jon and I attended the Grand Taiko Festival at Miller Outdoor Theater.  We did not think Juliet would enjoy this experience as one it was outside in the grass, two it was loud and three, it started right around her bedtime.  She gladly went to Mama and Papa's for the night.  It was a wonderful experience and a nice night out with friends, who by the way did bring their kids.
Saturday we were planning on going to Dallas to see Jon's family so we had to pick up Juliet at 7:30 in Crosby and switch cars with Mama.  We borrowed the Expedition so we could have more room.  (Best decision we could have made!)  We got on the road and stopped for chicken (Chick-Fil-A) and were off!  Note she has been up since 6:40 now.  We stopped in Madisonville, who doesn't, at Buckees for a leg stretch and diaper change...  Well entire outfit change, and Daddy bought her Dippin Dots which she would not eat.  Strange child.  Back on the road.  Around 11 she decided she wanted a nap and only slept 45 minutes waking up about the time we hit Lewisville.  We made it to Jon's grandparent's house and played with the grandparents and great-grandparents all day.  Around 7:30p we headed to the Chanslor's, Uncle Craig's parents, where we were staying the night.  Juliet fell asleep, for 15 minutes, and woke up when we got there.  We played some more until around 9:45p when she just couldn't do it anymore.  We put her in bed and she was out by 10 and slept until about 7:15 Sunday morning.
Sunday we went to church and had lunch, then we were off again.  We headed to Frisco to see Jon's dad and his family and watch the Cowboys loose.  Hey, the TEXANS WON!, that's 2 weeks in a row if you are counting and you should be!  Juliet loves playing with all the toys and Madison would play with her so she was happy.  We left around 3:30p for home and got home around 8.  We finally got her bath and she was in bed by 8:30 and slept all night!
It was a great weekend.

Bite

On Tuesday afternoon Juliet was bitten near her her eye and on her neck.  I was called to the school on Wednesday to put medicine on the bite on her neck and that is when I noticed that the one on her face was swelling just a little.  I gave her Benedryl and headed out to the Astros game for my safety recognition event at Minute Maid.  Around the 7th inning stretch I got another call from the school that the bite on her eye was swelling and I should probably come look at it.  (Remember I am downtown at the ball park and it takes me a while to get there, and I am expecting the worse when I get there.)  Yes her eye was swollen and so was her nose so I put in a call to the pediatrician.  He told me to give her a steroid, which I had and more Benedryl and to bring her in Thursday morning.
I took her in and expected her to fight me on everything.  We were taken to room 2, our favorite because of the ride toy and the mailbox to play with.  When it was time to weigh her, she pushed the ride toy to the scale, gave me her hand for help getting on the scale and stood there until it was time to get down them pushed her toy back to the room.  (No picture, I forgot the camera in the room.)  When Dr. Goldberg, Senior, came in she talked to him and smiled at him, which is a big change from just staring at Dr. Ori.  He gave us 3 epi pens, more steroid and an antibiotic.  The epi pens are a just in case something really bad happens.
Of course she got bitten on her hand Friday and it was so swollen, but didn't seem to bother her.  Hoping that lasts because I don't want her scratching!  Gonna talk to the school next week!

Cleaning solution that may come in handy

SOLUTION from another friend's blog that she swears will disinfect and get rid of the smell of anything that comes from your kids!  I haven't tried it yet, but will keep it in reserve!

From Kim Garnett who is the mom of twins...
A newly learned solution of 1/3 water, 1/3 rubbing alcohol and 1/3 white vinegar is a LIFESAVER in the process of removing smell from car seat straps that don't detach from the car seat. I used to think Lysol Kitchen cleaner did the job but no. This is amazing, and I call it Wanehol (WAter, viNEgar, alcoHOL).

Our big girl!

Our little girl is growing up so fast!

She knows that when the red light on the humidifier is on it needs more water.  She will take the head off the elephant and bring it to daddy.  She will hold on to the stopper and when he is done she will put it exactly where it is supposed to go and help him screw it on.  When she is ready for you to get up she will pull on your hand and she will say up.  When you do get up she gives you a winning smile and says up!  (She wants to be picked up!)  She also knows that a q-tip goes in your ear and knows where they are kept, bye bye q-tips :-) !  Our little smarty pants!  She and daddy are working on learning that cars go Beep Beep.
We have a Winnie the Pooh book that has lots of things on pages to find.  I can ask her where is something and she will point it out and most of the time say what it is.  She has even learned what a kangaroo is.
When we got home Friday after school she ran directly to the bathroom and said "Go Potty", of course she had already gone in her diaper so she just sat there smiling.
We took her to slide in the park on Saturday morning.  We were there 45 mins and it was time to go home.  She screamed half of the way home something that sounded like "I didn't get to slide," of course I have video and photo proof that she did.

Will keep you updated!
Love, Laura

Terrible 2's (a little early)

Juliet has hit the terrible 2's full force!  If she doesn't want to say or do something she will say no and shake her head.  Also if she doesn't want to say something she also says no.  She is in that stage where she knows she wants something but doesn't know how to tell us what she wants.  That is what the terrible 2's are, knowing what she wants and not knowing how to get it and not tell us what exactly it is.

We took her to the little park area in the neighborhood on Monday to play.  There are slides there and she so loves to slide.  We saw some black clouds in the distance but thought we had time before the storm hit, but... she only got to slide 3-4 times before the storm was on top of us.  We had to hurry home, she did get chicken out of it.  I think I understand terrible twos, it's more of she knows what she wants and doesn't know how to wait for it.

We are working with her on how a train goes, she says choo choo and a turkey goes gobble!  I told her the waffle was cold burr and she shivers and says burr.  She is very impatient and does not like to wait for them to cook.  She puts her own shoes on, even if those shoes are on the wrong feet!

Jujet

Say Juliet... Jujet!  It is really sweet because she is trying so hard.  She would say Jujet over and over and was so proud of herself, and mommy was proud of her too!
Then I lost her attention to her bible and that was the end of our trying to say our name.

Sunday Sharing

We were playing pig (piggy bank) and Juliet got carpet fuzz on her hand. Jon blew on her hand to get it off and she started blowing on her hand too. I had the camcorder going and I flipped the screen so she could see it and she started waving at the camera. All is really precious!
Juliet found her bible and took it out and said bible, bible, bible all the way to daddy.
I asked her to throw her diaper away and she said away
We said her prayers tonight and she said amen when we were done!

She is growing up on us!

A little bit of this..

Happy Birthday Uncle James!!  (August 25th)

We are going to start working with Juliet on her colors, she has animals down pat, you can ask her the animal, she will pick it up and make the sound.  She will say red and white, blue sounds like bu, but she tries.
She stayed home sick from school on Tuesday with a cold, didn't seem sick to me, she played in the swing and she and daddy had fun at home together.  She must have dreamed about her farm during her nap because when daddy went in to get her she was pointing at it to play with it.
Wednesday night Juliet decided that her toy box was not used for toys but for a play area and climbed in and had a blast!

I learned Friday that everyday at nap time Juliet takes her shoes and socks off and puts them under her cot, then after she wakes up, lifts up her cot to get them. (Again, I would love to be a fly on the wall while she is at school, their stories crack me up sometimes!)
She has these cupcakes that go in a cupcake tray. There are six of them. Jon hid one and she told him O-NO,  more and signed it. She knew there was supposed to be six and she knows that more isn't just for food.   O-No seems to be a new expression when things aren't going her way!

She slept until 9 this morning, we didn't know what to do with ourselves, she is usually a 6:30 creature on a Saturday morning. On the way to Chick-Fil-A we passed by the water fountains in Summerwood and she says water!, and then we passed by NEHBC and she starts saying Amen!!  Isn't that cool!

All is quiet here so until later,
Laura

Amen

Our Juliet Claire is 20 months old today!

Juliet started saying Amen this weekend.  She said it all the way from Liberty for Mama but refused to say it for us when she met us at church.  I finally got her to say it this morning.  On the way to school I said, "Juliet, can you say Amen?", she raised her hand and said "Amen!".  It was cute.

Yesterday we started Sunday School, and she did wonderful.  She heard a bible study, did a craft, and listened to the music man!  Wow what a full morning that tired her out and she fell asleep on the way home and did not wake up when we put her in bed like she usually does.

Sunday was a day for frogs because RIBBIT at the top of her lungs was her favorite word after church!

I had a photography job yesterday afternoon and Juliet and Jon had a daddy/daughter afternoon.  They ended up at the Pennington's and she got to play with Lily (their dog) and some toys she usually doesn't get to play with.  When I got home they were finishing up bath time and I could hear her saying Momma, Momma as I walked up the stairs.  It made me so happy, especially when I turned the corner and she just about jumped out of Jon's arms into mine and gave me a huge, hard and long hug.  What a great way to come home!  I think she and daddy had a great time together!!

Where is your...

Juliet, where is your eyes, nose, mouth, (which she will point to and say), where are your ears, head (hair),  fingers, (she opens and closes them), where is your arms, legs, feet, knee, belly button, (she can point to them all.)  Will work on getting a video of that and a video of all her animal sounds.
When we hug her she has started patting us on the back like we do when we are comforting her.  When she wants you to get up she will grab your hand and lift it up and says up.  She is one of those kids who tries to make something happen even if she is too small to actually do it.  She is very determined.
Sunday we put her pool back up and since it was so hot, Mommy climbed in with her, she loved that!  She loved that she got to splash and squirt me with the water hose.
On Sunday Juliet will start her Bible Study class, NEHBC has their bible study classes set up like a VBS where they have a Bible story, a craft and a song during the hour class.  I am teaching the craft so I will get to see her interact.  I am so excited.

Our Stinker

Last week Jon went to Indy to attend Gencon so Juliet and I were on our own from Wednesday to Sunday.  We spent the weekend in Liberty with Mama and Papa and I got to see some of what Juliet does when she isn't at home.
Saturday morning she woke up with the chickens, around 6 am.  YUCK!  There were chickens running around the neighbors yard, squirrels and birds in the yard.  She went nuts over them.  Then she saw the dogs and started barking like crazy.  She is such a silly nut.  We went to Adair and she found a little bear that she fell in love with almost as much as she loves her frog, ALMOST.  She still has a fond affection for her frog.  Pam had a pretty setup so we took her picture in front of it, she now says cheese when you take her picture.  Mama got her a puzzle that has a fishing pole with a magnet that you go fishing for pieces that Juliet loves.  I found her one like it that has a net for gathering insects.  She had to show daddy how it works.
When you leave with her she has started waving, says "bye baby" and blows kisses.  It's really precious.
New words are Minnie, Yeah and shakes her head yes when she wants something, No and shakes her head no when she doesn't want to do something, better (after her little tantrum for getting in trouble), and nine while playing with her number cards.
I so love this stage, I miss my baby, but I love this little girl.

Love to all, Laura!

Little Frog

Juliet's teachers said they saw a small frog while playing outside today and Juliet laughed huge belly laughs and jumped and said ribbit while watching the frog. She loved it!!
Don't you wish sometimes you were a fly on the wall?  I know I do!

Kiss

For the first time tonight Juliet gave us a kiss at bedtime.  For as long as I know, I have told Juliet kiss and then kiss her on the cheek.  Tonight before prayers, I picked her up for a hug and kiss and she pressed her lips, and very cold nose, to my cheek.  Then daddy asked her could he have a kiss and she leaned over and gave him one.  Well, actually we both got two, it was so exciting!  I have been waiting on that!
When I asked if she was ready to go nite nite, she shook her head yes and said yea.  Go figure!
She discovered ketchup this week, she loved it so much that she ate it, then used it for art supplies.   But as with everything with this kid, it may change at any moment.
We set up her pool again today and she would not even wait on me to fill it up with water, she pulled at her dress until I took it off and jumped in and played with the hose until the pool was full
I have had two incident reports from school over the last week because of Juliet biting her friends, although I have no clue why and neither do they, I can not replicate the problem.  Owner not concerned, he said to wait, it will only get worse in the next classes.  She has decided that uncle craig the frog has to go to school with her everyday.
Last night Jon and I went to the Astros game with our friends Brandi and Randy.  It was Faith and Family night and Jars of Clay put on a concert after the Astros WON!  I love going to games, but I really love games where they win.
Make sure you are keeping up with Flickr!

Things that are dead and things that smell dead for 500 Alex

Answer: Rex and Lois
Ding: What are things Juliet saw the day she turned 19 months?
Juliet turned 19 months old last Friday, and we celebrated by going to the Houston Museum of Natural Science to see the Corpse Flower, Lois and to see the dinosaurs.  She was not very interested in the bones of the dinos, but she did growl for me.  We did see some that caught her attention.  These actually have color and she liked them.

The line for the corpse flower was over an hour and a half behind and she was loosing it quickly.  We did quite alot of running around columns and back and forth between Mommy and Daddy.  We got her some ice cream and some french fries from the McDonald's in the museum.  She loved the french fries which was a surprise to me since she usually wants the ice cream.  So you stood in an hour and a half line and then you get in and it's like Disney World, another line.  There were games for her to play inside and we finally got to see the flower.  She was less than impressed and it was way past her bedtime at this time.  She was so tired, but did get to see butterflies which she liked.
Make sure you check out Flickr to see all the pics from the trip!
I went on the Scott Kelby 3rd Annual Photo Walk on Saturday, it was so wonderful to get out and about with my camera.  I so love photography!  (Flickr for those too!)
Juliet has become very attached to her frog and carries it around everywhere, even to school!  I got her a Minnie Mouse nightgown yesterday and she wore it from the time she got home until this morning.  It is too precious.
She is growing so fast and learning so much all the time.  She loves her animal and the sounds they make, Sheep, horse, cow, dino and lion, etc, loves them all.  (She knows how to use her iTot on my iPhone and loves it!)  She is such the little snuggle bug.  She loves to get and give hugs!  We have learned that she wants the opposite of who gets her up in the morning.  If I get her up, she wants Daddy, and he if gets her up she wants me.  She still loves to dance, is learning to put her clothes on, and surprise, drinks milk at school, but still refuses to at home!  One more before I go!!

Well, back to it!

Love to all! Laura
