New Games

Juliet found the toilet paper roll tonight and had a ball unrolling it for me. It was my fault, I put the roll on while she was looking and it didn't take her long to figure out what it did. I happened to catch her playing on camera. We played in her room for a while after bath and she decided she wanted clothes in her basket, big surprise I know, but tonight there were not many clothes in the basket so she ended up going face first into the basket to get the clothes. Once she figured it out she was completely in the basket sitting up. OF course by the time we got to the video camera she was through playing. I cut her bangs last night so they aren't in her face, they aren't perfect, but they aren't hanging in her eyes anymore.

Something New Everyday

Last night we were sitting on the floor in the living room and Juliet was crawling all over me. I was half paying attention to what she was doing when she put her hands on my legs and pushed herself up to standing and then let go and stood there. She had the happiest look on her face. She clapped her hands, realized what she was doing then sat down. Jon and I were so proud of her! Juliet's dr appt for this week is being rescheduled until after her ear surgery. Keep praying for her, and mommy and daddy. Love to all

She deserves a break

But she can't seem to catch one. We are finished with 10 days of antibiotics and now she has bacterial pink eye in both eyes. How does this happen? Doesn't she deserve not to have to be held down for medicine for once in almost 2 months or longer? I got the call today and when I got there she was quarantined in her bed with a few toys, she did seem content. I learned that they considered her the source.. how do they figure this? She isn't around other children, except at school, she isn't around other adults that have pink eye. Their explanation makes no sense to me. I walk in to her class and learn there is a little boy, in her class, has older siblings in school, he has it too. He seems more the source to me. But I digress because I am upset, not with her with ths situation. So 5 days of eye drops 3 times a day and boy let me tell you that is a fun time. Flu vaccine on Wednesday at her well baby, and tubes on Thursday. Someone tell me how this is supposed to make me feel good. I feel horrible all the time for her.

She may learn...

But probably not. I just got a call from school which started out, "Mrs. Clements, this is Mrs. (can't remember who called), I needed to let you know that first, Juliet is fine, there was an incident in the class that we wanted to tell you about. " By now, my blood pressure is back to normal, I hate seeing Primrose flash across the screen of my cell. I can hear you now, what happened?!?!, stop babbling. Juliet stuck her finger in another kids mouth and the kid bit her and left a scratch on her hand. Of course, she was cuddled and it was washed off, but they have to tell me everything, which I like. That is something we are going to have to work on at home. She puts her fingers in daddys mouth playing and he doesn't bite her, she doesn't know that doesn't happen in the real world. She is so fascinated with everything, I often wonder... What Next???

Answers - Finally

Miss Juliet Claire will have tubes put in her ears on the 1st of October. We saw the ENT this morning and he told us #1 - ear drops do nothing but cause build up in her ears and to stop using them. We will try anything to help their pain, but Tylenol is really better. #2 she has fluid built up behind her ear drum that can not drain and keeps causing her to have ear infections. It was a long wait to get into Texas Children's Hospital so we are having her surgery at the Doctor's Surgical Center. They tell me it is a 15 minute surgery and we will be the first thing she sees when she wakes up. That helps me. I am just glad we finally have some answers.

Noise Maker

Juliet has learned that if she claps her hands it makes noise. She laughs when she claps. SOOOO.. she claps her puzzle pieces together, they make a different loud noise. Her blocks squeak when she hits them together. She loves banging things together to see what kind of noise they will make. Our poor furniture. We are having to watch her closely so she doesn't bang the puzzle pieces on the TV stand or coffee table. She also thinks it is great fun to chase Mommy around the kitchen in her jeep. That thing hurts when she bangs into your ankles or runs over your toes. She thinks it is a game that I move out of her way, it is truly just self preservation. We go to the ENT on Tuesday. Hopefully we will have a better grasp on what is going on with her ears and throat. Keep her in your prayers, she is such a doll baby and nothing ever seems to slow her down. All our love to everyone!

Here We Go Again

It started this morning with Juliet throwing up all over Mommy. Great way to start the day. Juliet, she laughed and played in the bath tub after... anyone else see a correlation here? Get sick, play in the bath tub. So I tell Jon, before 11 they will be calling us with something is wrong or to come get her. My phone rang at 10:59. She apparently got sick at school, no fever they are watching her. Back to the dr tomorrow for this yucky cough and the mucus buildup. Would have gone today but they close at 1 on Wednesday. Is Tuesday ever gonna get here? I feel absolutely helpless. She doesn't deserve all of this.

But I was thirsty Daddy

We always let Juliet play in the tub before bath time. She likes to "catch" the water as it comes out of the faucet. She likes to chew on her bath toys, look at herself in the overflow drain and play with the drain. Well tonight she decided she wanted to play with her cup that we rinse her hair with. No biggie, this has become interesting to her over the last couple of days. So Jon gives it to her. She puts water in it and tries to get a drink from the cup and realized she can't reach the water. So instead of tipping the cup back, she hasn't learned how to use a cup yet and doesn't seem to want to try, she puts the cup back in the water to add more then is able to drink from the full cup. This is no tiny cup, it is a 22oz plastic cup. I am thinking this is pretty smart on her part, but really wish she would attempt to learn to drink from a cup. She doesn't hold a bottle and wont tip the cup back to get the liquid. Sigh... BTW we have an appointment with the ENT on the 22nd.

You Could Make It, But You Won't

Is no longer true. The title to this was found on a sign outside a booth in Canton. For months now I have been meaning to duplicate a paci holder that Lynn (Meme) gave me as a baby shower gift. Well tonight I did it and am pretty proud of the results. Check it out! The holder on the left is the gift. The one on the right is the one I made tonight!

Please use my name

We learned at the dr's office today that Juliet should be responding to her name, which she is not doing. I am sure that us calling her Sweetie, Lovebug, Princess, Baby and all that is what she is used to hearing. So Daddy and I are trying to say Juliet every time we want her attention. Usually it is Juliet followed by a clap so she knows we are talking to her. Otherwise she does the child thing and ignores us completely. I know she hears us, she is just too busy with other things to bother with us. We have an independent one on our hands.

Cute New Shoes

They are pink, does that surprise you? Juliet is entering the phase of toddler very quickly. She grabs on to everything and pulls herself to standing then before you know it she is on the opposite end of what she is holding on to. According to the rules at school, once they start walking they have to wear shoes and socks. So instead of trying to enforce this all at once we thought it would be better for her to gradually get used to wearing shoes. Mama, Juliet and I started out at Dillards where the lady told us this is what we have in her size. Well what they had were little stiff Keds that Juliet cried the whole time she had on her feet. So I got frustrated at the service and we left and went to the Stride Rite store where the whole atmosphere was different. We were met at the door, her foot was measured and we were told that we could choose from. They make their shoes where they conform to the foot and it is like walking barefoot. Did you know a child flexes their foot close to 25,000 times a day??? So we got her this pink pair of tennies and she never said a word. She looked at them alot, but never cried or tried to pull them off. She did try to put them in her mouth though, go figure! So now she has shoes and we are breaking them in. Last night we went to the Dawson's for a Labor Day celebration, it was nice to be around other adults. We also got to go see Wilson's new house, it is very nice. By that time Juliet was so tired, she let everyone know it. Hopefully today will be relaxing.

Poor Baby

First of all a bit of good news, Juliet stood by herself for five seconds last night! She stood herself up and stood there. Juliet is 19.2 lbs and 29 inches long. We went to the doctor this morning and Juliet has another double ear infection. This makes number three. We have to do another round of antibiotics and ear drops... FUN! After her ears heal, we are going to have to see an ENT. She is such the trooper and stays happy through it all. She is at home with Daddy this afternoon after throwing up at school yesterday. This is usually our sign that her ears are infected again. We ask for your prayers for our little angel. She is such a great baby and it breaks my heart that she is sick so much, but does not complain.
