Hopefully the last time

Today we took Juliet to have tubes put back in her ears and to have her adenoids removed.  As you know a couple of weeks ago we took her into the ENT to have her ears cleaned out and he told us that she had fluid again and put her on medicine that would hopefully clear it up.  Well about 2 weeks later we ended up back in the doctors office and were told that the fluid was still there.  We called the ENT back and asked what we should do.  His answer, we should go ahead and put the ear tubes back in and take her adenoids out because apparently they aren't doing what they are supposed to be doing.  Then the nurse dropped on me that they had an opening Friday morning and we should go ahead and get this done.  So we scheduled the appointment.
We left the house around 5:50 this morning with all of our animals, and made it on time to the surgical center by 6:30.
We got checked in and went to the pre-op room where we met the nurse and the anesthesiologist that were going to be in the operating room with Dr. Duncan.  Then we watched MMCH and Dr. Duncan arrived.  He is such a wonderful man who is patient and calm with the kids and the parents, she gave him a high five so she remembers him.  Since she was the first one this morning, they came to get her around 7:40, she did not cry once when they took her from us, and around 8:20 I heard her screaming, she doesn't wake up from the anesthetic well.  Jon and I got to her and it was a challenge to get her settled down.  We finally realized that it was the IV that was making her so upset.  We asked the nurse what we had to do to get it taken out.  She said Juliet had to drink something and then she would take it out.  I explained this to Juliet and she was agreeable.  She took one sip of juice and looked at the nurse, held her arm out and said out?  She was negotiating the removal of the IV.  We told her she had to drink more and she did and the nasty bandage and IV came out.  It was a little better after that.  We were finally discharged around 8:50 and before we even hit 610 on the west side she was asleep.  She never let go of those glasses the whole ride home.  I would see her hand tighten on them every now and then.
We got home and it was cookies, cookies.  Well they told us nothing crunchy, spicy or fried and cookies fall into that category.  It was then a hunt for something she would eat.  I finally found fruit snacks and she ate 4 or 5 little snack bags of them, then she ate a pancake and 2 sticks of cheese and more snack bags of fruit snacks.  Then we went to CVS around 3 to get medicine and a Sonic coke.  When we got back she ate 2 snack bags of Oreos, which I had told her if she was fine at 3 we would try the cookies.  She held me to the cookie promise.

Mama and Papa came over to check on her and she ate chicken and cheese and who knows what else while Jon and I went to dinner by ourselves.  Which was nice since I am about to fall on my face from exhaustion.  We had Zio's which was yummy!
Other than being cranky and hating the ear drops and nose spray she is doing fine.  She played most of the afternoon and it was hard to keep her quiet when all she wanted to do was run around outside.  She was asleep by 8 tonight and that is a relief because I am headed that way myself after the Dr calls and checks in.
We are so blessed with all the friends and family that kept us in their thoughts and prayers through this.  We are also very blessed to have a wonderful Dr. with a very flexible schedule, and the staff at the Surgery Center that are kind and seem to love their jobs.  (We have been there twice and it is always clean and the people are always nice.)  I am so lucky to have a wonderful husband that is right there beside me during this, those nights when she is fussy or sick, and all the doctors visits, then on top of it all a really rough 1st trimester with the new baby.  He has really shown what an awesome husband and father he is.  Juliet and I are so lucky to have him.
OK time for bed, he just called, just wanted to update everyone!
Have an awesome weekend,
Laura
